APD Motorsports Explores Grand-AM B-Spec Entry

Picture
Apd Motorsports announced today that it is exploring fielding an entry in Grand-AM's newly added, 2012 B-Spec class.
Grand-AM has announced that currently, six B-Spec sprint races are planned for between 30 and 45 minutes in length and will run in conjunction with GRAND-AM weekends at Homestead-Miami Speedway (April 27-29), New Jersey Motorsports Park (May 11-13), Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (June 8-9), Watkins Glen International (June 29-July 1), Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (Sept. 7-9) and Lime Rock Park (Sept. 28-29). Each of the weekends will also feature North America's most popular forms of sports car competition - the GRAND-AM Rolex Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

APD principal Jonathan Donner said "We have been following the development of the B-Spec rule set with great interest since it's inception, with Grand-AM and World Challenge offering the class for 2012 we feel it will provide a highly competitive, exciting and visible environment at an extremely reasonable price point as well as providing a tremendous value for our partners in conjunction with MotoIQ and Formula Drift exhibition events this season".

APD stands for {advanced performance development}
This season we are campaigning a purpose built Acura TSX, car #12 in the MotoIQ Pacific Tuner Car Championships for the season in the Tuner Under Class. The car and program are designed to highlight OEM and specialty competition parts devloped by and available through Honda Performance Development and the Honda Racing Line as well as high quality performance oriented products from the aftermarket.

The MotoIQ series is split into 2 classes Tuner Over and Tuner Under based on a horsepower to weight formula. Tuner Under or “TU” for short requires 12 pounds of car weight per wheel horsepower, races are 30 minute wheel to wheel circuit battles with a wide range of production car makes and drivers competing including drift stars Dai Yoshihara and Joon Maeng!
